EPHRATA, Washington -- Up until Saturday night, it had been a disappointing season for Kevin Burck. The driver of the #37 Perkins Racing AllState Electric CROW sprint car was riddled with bad luck, counting a couple of flat tires knocking him out of two races he was leading in previous weeks. Not this night. “I’m due, it my turn this week” Burck said in the pits prior to racing on Larry’s Auto and Marine Night at Ephrata Raceway Park. And Burck held true to his word. After setting a blistering fast new track record lap of 13.52, Burck sling-shotted around Mike Fought on lap two of the thirty-five lap main, and never looked back, winning his first main of the year. Bruce Pelham and Bo Swenson won the trophy dashes. Todd Lolkus and Fought won the heats.

The redneck racing crew was celebrating again Saturday night. After J.R. Miner took home honors last week, it was Ray Hahne’s turn to visit winners circle Saturday night. Hahne snuck underneath leader Nick Sieg on lap 16 en route to the win for the 25 lap Larry’s Auto and Marine Hobby Stock feature. Tom Price was quick time on the night at 16.93. Kevin Hill and Stuart Barger won trophy dashes. Dan Costlow and Mike Wall won the heats.

The Ephrata Pioneer Muffler Hornets took to the track Saturday with 34 cars divided up into two, 15 laps or 20 minutes which ever happens first mains. Kenny Brown was the force to be reckoned with in the first race, shooting way up and around on lap one to take home the big trophy. In main event number two, Sean Meyers held off a hard charging Scott Brown to take home his first Hornet main win. Rick Bretches, Bryan Swanson, and Greg Hector won the trophy dashes. Kenny Brown, Swanson, and Stuart Danby won the heats.

The Vintage Golden Wheels visited Ephrata Raceway Park Saturday night. 67-year-old Harold Braff of Salem, OR driving a 1968 Edmonds Midget won their 12-lap exhibition main event. 78-year-old John Moser of Snohomish, WA won the trophy dash in his 1947 Kurtis Kraft Midget. 71-year-old Bill Browning of Carlton, OR won the heat in his 1947 Kurtis Kraft Midget.

Notes- Kevin Burck and RJ Fronsman of the AllState Electric CROW sprints are on the entry list for the Rebel Jackson Memorial coming up on August 7th. The Northwest Sprintcar Racing Association will be running the race for points, featuring the fastest Asphalt Sprints on the West Coast. Next week at Ephrata Raceway Park is Pepsi Racing Night at the track, featuring the Northwest Modifieds, Pepsi Racing Street Stocks, Columbia Glass Mini Stocks, and the Cost Less Tools Youth Hornets. Time trials start at 545, with racing to follow. For more about the Rebel Jackson Memorial and a complete schedule of events, go to www.ephrataracewaypark.com
