EPHRATA, Washington -- Kevin Burck picked the right time of the year to turn his luck around. After a tough start to the season, Burck won his second main event in a row on Canfield & Associates presents Mid Season Championship Night at Ephrata Raceway Park. Sitting fifth place in the point standings for the AllState Electric CROW sprints going into the evening, Burck made two very aggressive moves within the first four laps of the 50-lap main on his way to the checkered flag. Being Mid Season Championship Night, no trophy dashes were run. Eight lap trophy heats were run instead, with Adam Roduner and Paul Dart winning in the CROW division. RJ Fronsman was quick time, turning a 13.76 second lap.

Elvin Brincefield finally found main event success in the Larry’s Auto and Marine Hobby Stocks. After multiple weeks of being runner-up, Brincefield graduated to head-honcho of class Saturday night by slipping underneath Nick Sieg to take the lead and the win, despite a formidable challenge from point’s leader Tom Price. Kevin Bottineau and Ray Hahne won the trophy heats, and Price set quick time on the night at 16.87.

Jeremy Creech was also a first time winner Saturday night, taking home a win in the 50-lap feature for the Pepsi Racing Street Stocks. Creech led laps two through ten in the early race before yielding first to a hard-charging Tyler Delong. Delong led till lap 48 when tragedy struck in the form of an incident involving 2nd place car Dustin Kagele who was challenging for the lead. Delong and Kagele were both sent to the rear of the field, handing the lead and the win over to Creech. Bill Rutherford and Terry Osborn won the trophy heats. Kagele turned the quick lap in time trials at a 16.16.

The theme of first time winners continued in the Columbia Glass Mini Stocks. Charles Larr, fresh off a trip to race in the Midwest, brought home his first career main event win in a thrilling fashion. With fast time Richard Brown and Josh Buys darting in and out, peeking high and low, and trying every which way to wheedle their way around him, Larr piloted his car to victory circle in the 20 lap main event. Brown’s fast time on the night was 17.04. Todd Van Diest won the trophy heat.

Both classes of Hornets were in action Saturday night at Ephrata Raceway Park. There were so many Hornets that a B-main had to occur in both the Cost Less Tools Youth Hornets and the Ephrata Pioneer Muffler Adult Hornets. Brian Allen won the B feature in the youth division, transferring him to the A main where Robbie Patterson finally found glory and his first main win of the year. Robert Barnes won the B feature in the adult division, and Stuart Danby won the main, with Justin Massie screaming up from almost dead last to take second. Chad Siebercroft, Tim Clark, and Cody Cobb won the trophy heats for the youth. Greg Hector, Ken Taylor, and Jared Merkle won the trophy heats for the adults.

Notes- Burck will look to continue his hot streak next week when the AllState Electric CROW sprints are in action. Burck will have one more tune-up race at ERP after next week, and then he’ll be ready to challenge the big boys with the baddest toys, the NSRA on August 7th at the Rebel Jackson Memorial at Ephrata Raceway Park. Also on tap next week are the Early Stocks, Larry’s Auto & Marine Hobby Stocks, and the Ephrata Pioneer Muffler Hornets. For more information log on to www.ephrataracewaypark.com
