LAMAR HOPING FOR ANOTHER WIN AT MADERA

BAKERSFIELD, California -- Burney Lamar won his first NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division Southwest Series race at Madera (CA) Speedway and is hoping to win his fourth career event this Saturday night on the one-third mile oval during the Star Nursery.com 125.

Currently third in the Series point standings, the 23 year old W. Sacramento resident is coming off a strong three-race series, including a win at Irwindale Speedway, a second at Infineon Raceway, and a third at Stockton (CA) 99 Speedway.

"We're in the second half of the season now, and winning means more than ever in the run for the Series championship." says Lamar. "Not only did I get my first win at Madera, but we did some testing there a couple of weeks ago, and things went well, so maybe some of our not-so-good luck earlier in the season is turning around".

So far this year, Lamar has put his #1Groeniger/HPS Mechanical/Tri-C/Victory Circle Chassis Chevrolet on the pole twice, and has one win, four top fives, and five top tens in the Series first seven races. He is currently 94 points out of first place in the Series standings, and only 35 points out of second.

With his win at Irwindale Speedway on May 29th, Lamar joined his friend and hero, M K Kanke, as one of only three Southwest Series drivers as multiple-time winners at that track. Among the Series current drivers, Kanke is the only multiple-time winner at Madera. Says Burney, "That'd be great to join him again".####
