LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Drivers who compete in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway have made the most of their summer break. Racing action will resume at the Bullring July 31 ending a four-week hiatus since the July 2 Night of Fire.
Several drivers have spent their vacations racing at various tracks. Semi-Pro Legends Cars driver Dustin Ash and Pro Legends Cars driver Tom Lovelady competed in the Legends Cars division at Irwindale Speedway July 10 posting third and ninth-place finishes, respectively. Also, Pro Legends Cars driver Alex Haase and Super Late Model driver Spencer Clark competed in the ASA Speed Truck Challenge presented by CMKXtreme.com and finished 12th and 16th respectively.
The truck race will be aired on the Outdoor Channel Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. Pacific Time and Saturday, Aug. 21 at 11 p.m. Clark and Haase raced July 17 at Mesa Marin Raceway in the ASA Speed Truck Challenge presented by CMKXtreme.com and finished 11th and 15th respectively. Super Late Model driver Chris Clyne served as a crew member for Haase at both events. Haase, 14, is the youngest driver to compete at both Irwindale and Mesa Marin. Kyle Huender traveled to Tucson, Ariz. for two purposes: visit family and race. Huender won his Bandolero Cars feature event.
Super Late Model driver Chuck Trickle spent his vacation in Slinger, Wis. competing at the 25th Annual Miller Lite Nationals July 13 at Slinger Super Speedway. NASCAR drivers Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, Rich Bickle and Chuck’s brother Dick Trickle competed in the event.
Thunder Roadster driver Randy Bowman, 7-Eleven Bullring Bombers driver Gary Wyatt and Legends Cars driver Ash spent July 15 at the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center of Nevada’s pediatric clinic.
Charger driver Steve Dessormeau spent his vacation with a trip to California with wife Sarah and their two kids. In addition Steve and Sarah worked on Sarah’s 7-Eleven Bullring Bombers car which is expected to be ready for the next race.
Although some drivers spent their break on vacation and racing, most drivers spent their time working and staying home with family.
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series returns to the Bullring July 31 for the Dog Days of Summer event featuring Super Late Models, Late Models, Chargers, Legends Cars, Thunder Roadsters, Bandolero Cars and 7-Eleven Bullring Bombers. Spectator gates open at 6 p.m. with racing at 7:15. General admission is $11 adults, $9 senior citizens and military personnel, $4 children (6-12) and children under five are free.
