SOLID PERFORMANCES LEAVE VOIGT FEELING CONFIDENT

GOLETA, California -- Greg Voigt has won enough races and championships to know when things are coming together and everyone at Voigt Motorsports has that feeling now.

Voigt and his crew are preparing for the July 31 NASCAR Elite Division, Southwest Series race at Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, Calif. Coming in the wake of several consecutive strong runs in Southwest Series competition, Voigt is optimistic about his chances at Stockton.

“We’ve run very well in the last several races,” Voigt said. “We don’t have the finishes to show for it, but we can’t help but feel good about the rest of the season.”

Voigt is ninth in the championship standings with 997 points. He is one point out of eighth place and just nine tallies away from seventh. The first 10 drivers in the final standings will be eligible to participate in the NASCAR all-star event at Irwindale Speedway after the end of the regular season.

“We can tell our short track package is coming together and that’s important with Stockton, which is a quarter-mile, next on the schedule,” Voigt said. “Steve Teets, my crew chief, has some great ideas for the race up there. We were very competitive the last time we raced there.” Voigt was comfortably leading the last Series race, on the 1/3-mile oval at Madera Speedway, when he was caught up in an incident between two lapped cars in the late going. He ran as high as fourth in the previous race, at Infineon Raceway, before heavy traffic after a restart resulted in Voigt’s Chevrolet getting knocked off the racing surface.

Greg Voigt has won track and regional championships on asphalt and dirt tracks around the Southwestern states. Voigt’s engine builder is James Weston of Auto Pro Racing Engines.####
