STOCKTON, California -- Expertly powering his Mr. Gas/Yerf-Dog Chevrolet, Nick Lynch scored his first top five finish of the season, plus earned Autometer Rookie of the Race honors at Round 9 of the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series, Saturday, July 31 at Stockton 99 Speedway.
"It was a good weekend for the Lynch Mob Motorsports team," said an obviously pleased Lynch. "We gained a few more positions and now sit just 43 points out of tenth. The team has my Mr. Gas/Yerf-Dog Chevy really hooked up and I think we can do even better the rest of the season."
Qualifying in the Number 4 spot, Lynch powered off the Grid in 5th due to the inverted start format of the Series. "Right off the start I got bumped from behind which caused me to bump the car in front," explains Lynch. "Luckily there was no damage but a couple of cars managed to get by."
Not about to let any grass grow under his feet, Lynch immediately got up on the wheel and started moving back up. "We pretty much ran the whole 125 Lap race see-sawing between 4th and 5th, he continued. When the Checkered flew we took a solid 5th and I'm definitely pleased. Stockton is not a forgiving track, so finishing in the top five definitely tends to give you a sense of accomplishment. While you always want to win, consistent top finishes will definitely serve to get you in the thick of the point's battle and that's what is important. We still have five races left and I am definitely looking to fly the Mr. Gas/Yerf-Dog banner on the Podium more than once."![]()
