SHOOTOUT RETURNS TO MESA MARIN FOR INFAMOUS INC. 100

WILTON, California -- Davey Hamilton’s SRL Wild West Shootout returns to Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, California, this coming Saturday, August 7th. Saturday night’s 100 lap feature event will be the third and final time that the Shootout visits the high banked half mile racing facility in 2004.

With three races remaining in the 2004 season, Tracy’s Rick Ruzbarsky continues to sit on top of the point standings. Ruzbarsky has one win, along with seven top five finishes. Rick finished second and fourth earlier this year at Mesa Marin Raceway. Jeff Anthony, the 2002 series Champion trails Ruzbarsky by 23 points heading into the Infamous Inc. 100. Anthony became the first repeat winner of 2004 two weeks ago at Altamont Motorsports Park. In his first two visits’ to Mesa Marin this season, Jeff Anthony finished fourth and fourteenth. Moving into the third position, after finishing second at Altamont two weeks ago is Ceres’ Ken Boyd. Boyd has finished in the top ten at his two previous starts at Mesa Marin. Sitting in the fourth position is Modesto’s Steve Belletto. Belletto won the season opener at Altamont, and finished second at Mesa Marin on June 5th. Rounding out the top five is 2003 rookie of the year Ryan Foster. Foster won at Mesa Marin on June 5th after leading the final 52 laps.

Sitting in the sixth position is Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the year points leader Mark Smith of Tracy. In his first start at Mesa Marin Raceway, Smith finished tenth. Napa’s Joey Zampa and Tracy Bolin of Valley Springs are currently tied for seventh. Zampa has one win this season, and that came at Stockton 99 Speedway on March 28th. Joey crossed the Finishline third at Mesa Marin on June 5th. Bolin finished fourth at Stockton 99 on July 3rd and sixth at Altamont two weeks ago. Jeff Belletto is currently in ninth position. Belletto picked up his first career SRL Victory at the series lone stop to Madera Speedway on June 19th. Rounding out the top ten is Troy Ermish of Fremont, California. Ermish finished seventh at Mesa Marin on June 5th. Troy has three top ten finishes, in eight starts.

Tracy's Mark Smith sits on top of the 2004 Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the year point standings. Bakersfield's own Mike Mason is currently second, followed by Roseville’s Eric Schmidt. In addition to be crowned Rookie of the year at the season ending awards banquet, the 2004 SRL Rookie of the year will be the recipient of a brand new 2004 Victory Circle Chassis. Currently situated in a 38,000 square foot facility in Bakersfield, CA, Victory Circle Chassis and Parts, Inc. is the leader in west coast racecar chassis design and fabrication.

Anderson's Ryan Foster leads the Apex Financial Group Qualifying Points. Foster has a one point lead over Ken Boyd (21-20). In the last four races, Boyd has set fast time twice, and was second quick on the other two occasions. The drivers in the series will be competing for the Apex Financial Group qualifying championship award of $5,000.00. The money will be divided between the top three in qualifying points. Apex Financial Group is based in Stockton, California and specializing in home loans and the refinancing of property.

Chad Pais leads Jeremy Hopkins Jr., Aaron Days, Justin Offenbach, and Steve Yatsko in the SRL Late Model Qualifying Race Points.
