With his first win of the season (Mesa Marin Raceway) safely tucked in his back pocket, Mike Mason heads for Shasta Raceway Park and Round 10 of Davey Hamilton's SRL Wild West Late Model Shootout, Saturday, September 18.
"We're ready to get right back into Victory Circle," says Mason who pilots the No. 55 A.S.Mason Trucking & Crane Chevrolet. "Winning is what it is all about. Shasta Raceway Park is another track we have never competed at, but our momentum is at an all time high and we figure with a little help from Lady Luck we can race our way to the front."
One of the most talented young upcoming drivers in motorsports today, Mason, who attends Bakersfield High School, is determined to make his way up the ladder of success. "Racing is what I love," he says with obvious conviction. "As soon as I can, I want to go into NASCAR competition. However, you have to be 18, so I still have a year to go. This year has taught me an awful lot. The more seat time I get, the more I learn and that's what it takes to be successful."
Currently ranked 10th in the overall point standings, Mason would like nothing more than to move up a couple more notches. "There are just two races left," he says. "So we really need to be on the wheel every second of both races. Luckily for me I have an excellent crew and they give me a great Chevy to drive each and every time. When the Green Flag falls this weekend, we will definitely be ready to win.![]()
