![]() ROCKLIN, California -- Driver of the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS/NAPA Belts & Hose Chevrolet, Austin Cameron and the NAPA team will be looking to add another win to the NASCAR Grand National Division West Series record books as they head to Phoenix International Raceway for the “Subway 150”. Cameron and the BMR team last brought home a win at PIR in 2002. Currently in second, the team is in close pursuit of the 2004 series championship and is only 83 points out of first. The team looks to narrow that gap with four scheduled races remaining in the season. Open wheel driver, Sarah Fisher will be making her NASCAR debut driving the #20 NASCAR Select by NAPA Filters/NAPA Belts & Hose Chevrolet in this weekend’s event. Fisher, who progressed through the sprint car and midget car ranks to the Indy Racing League, was voted the IRL’s Most Popular Driver the past three seasons. The 23-year-old resident of Indianapolis, Ind., scored a career-best runner-up finish in the IRL Indy Car Series at Homestead-Miami in 2001 and won the pole at Kentucky in 2002. In 2000, she became only the third woman in history to qualify for the Indianapolis 500. “We are excited to have Sarah be a part of our team at Phoenix,” said team owner Bill McAnally. “This is a great opportunity for BMR to work with a talented young driver from the open-wheel ranks. She should provide an interesting perspective and some valuable input into our program.” This will be the second time in as many seasons that an open wheel driver will be a race entry from BMR. IRL driver, Bryan Herta debut in the series at California in 2003 and brought home a top five at the event. Driver Kerry Earnhardt will sit out the event at PIR due to a prior commitment with Richard Childress Racing (RCR). Earnhardt will compete in the NASCAR Nextel Cup event at Talladega and will return to pilot the #20 NASCAR Select by NAPA Filter/NAPA Belts & Hose Chevrolet at the Colorado National Speedway later in October. BMR’s race partners, NAPA AUTO PARTS will be hosting a hospitality suite at PIR In attendance will be some of the top NAPA AUTO PARTS customers from the Phoenix area. The BMR drivers look forward to visiting with them prior to the race on Sunday.
The “Subway 150” will be televised live on HDNET on Sunday, October 3, 2004 at noon EST. The race will also be broadcast on SPEED Channel on December 4. Check your local listings. For more information on Bill McAnally Racing, please consult our website at www.billmcanallyracing.com.
