HDNET TO AIR SELECT NASCAR SOUTHWEST SERIES RACES

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida -- For the first time ever, NASCAR fans are going to be able to watch NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series championship races in high definition, as two of the season's last three races will be televised on HDNet. The races - from Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday and Mesa Marin Raceway on October 16 - could determine the Southwest Series championship.

In March, NASCAR and HDNet announced a three-year partnership for NASCAR's first high definition television package. This landmark deal resulted in live high-definition telecasts of races in the NASCAR Grand National Division, a tier of NASCAR regional racing which includes the Busch North Series and West Series. HDNet produces and broadcasts the package in 1080i HDTV.

The J.C. Glass "100" is set to take the green flag at 1 p.m. PST on Sunday.

Mike Hogewood, Pat Patterson and Kandace Krueger will call the action for HDNet, which will broadcast the 100-lap race live. Fans are urged to check their local cable and satellite television listings for more details.

Launched September 2001 by co-founders Mark Cuban, owner of Dallas Mavericks, and Philip Garvin of Colorado Studios, HDNet is the first national television network broadcasting all of its programming in 1080i HD, the highest-quality format of high-definition television (HDTV). HDNet produces and televises more hours of HDTV sports, news and entertainment programming each week than any other network####
