ALTON, Virginia Christian Fittipaldi of Key Biscayne, Fla. qualified fourth Saturday for Sunday's VIR 400 presented by SunTrust at Virginia International Raceway. Terry Borcheller of Gainesville, Ga. will share the car with him in the Rolex series race, which will be broadcast live on SPEED at noon Eastern time.

Fittipaldi's fastest lap in Bell Motorsports' Kodak EasyShare DORAN JE4 Pontiac #54 was only one-tenth of a second off the third-fastest time, which was recorded by the Michael Shank Racing DORAN JE4 Lexus. Fittipaldi's official qualifying time was a 1:46.807 (110.217 mph).

A total of 17 Daytona Prototypes are entered in the 40-car field.

"For qualifying today we had the best package we've had here so far between overall grip and platform control," Fittipaldi said moments after climbing out of the Kodak EasyShare car after quals. "We had better balance between the front and the rear. We have definitely been struggling a little, but all in all I'm very happy with the way qualifying went."

Car owner Forest Barber, who also drives the car during long-distance races, concurred. ""Qualifying fourth here is like getting the pole!" he said.

The fastest qualifier was Max Papis with a 1:45.447 (111.639 mph).####
