Montreal, Canada - – Canadian Bruno Spengler ended his 2004 season on a positive note, climbing through the field to score a 9th place finish in the final round of the Euro Formula 3 Series in Hockenheim, Germany.
In the first race of the weekend held yesterday, Spengler claimed the 7th fastest time in qualifying but was forced to retire during the race. “It was wet during qualifying and my car was running quite well. I set the 7th fastest time,” said the ambassador of the Casino of Montreal. “However, the track was dry for the race and the handling problems quickly reappeared. I had a fierce battle with Brazilian Roberto Streit. He banged into me on the long straight, forcing me to drive in the grass at 240 km/h. At the hairpin corner, we collided and my race ended there.”
In Race 2 held this morning, Spengler started 18th on the grid. “In qualifying, my car was very unstable under braking and the handling was terrible. I started 18th but the car was running much better during the race because we’re all on used tires. I passed many guys except two who collided. I gave my best and crossed the line in 9th place.” Spengler finished just behind Nico Rosberg and 22.8 seconds behind race winner Nicolas Lapierre.
These two races conclude the 2004 season of Bruno Spengler in the Euro Formula 3 Series.
