SPENCER CLARK SCORES FIRST CAREER VICTORY IN THE ASA SPEEDTRUCK CHALLENGE

LAS VEGAS, Nevada --Spencer Clark scored his first career win in the ASA Speedtruck Challenge presented by CMKXtreme.com Saturday night at the Bullring driving the #23 Mike Sevy/AFX Motorsports Chevy. Clark qualified on the pole; then started on the inside of Row 3 after a 5-car inverted lineup. He motored past Darren Young on lap 8 and at one point led series point leader Lee Hatch by a full straightaway until a few late-race caution flags brought the leaders together. Hatch, winner of the past 3 Bullring events in this series, challenged at each restart but Clark was able to hold him off and take the win by 4 car lengths. Darren Young finished 3rd, followed by Robert Kroeker and Joey Mogar.

Clark also won the 6-lap Trophy Dash earlier in the evening, starting on the pole and easily driving away from Darren Young for the win.

Clark's dominating performance mirrored his results in the previous Speedtruck event on 9/18, also at the Bullring. That night, he also appeared to qualify on the pole, win the feature and the trophy dash, but a post-race inspection found an improper carburator on the 23 truck, and Clark was disqualified. Clark entered this event determined to prove he could win without people thinking he was cheating. "It was an honest mistake and my team and I worked hard to do the best we can to win."

"Last week was a simple and honest mistake", said a team spokesman. "The truck had been a little sluggish, so we replaced the carb to see if that fixed it. We accidently took one of our Super Late Model carbs off the shelf, and sure enough it didn't pass inspection. We certainly didn't do it for performance reasons; in fact the truck was about two-tenths faster tonight with the correct part."

The Speedtrucks visit Irwindale Speedway for a twin feature on 10/16 then return to the Bullring on 10/29 and 10/30 during the Orleans Fall Classic. " I love the Speedtrucks," Clark said. "I'm off to Irwindale in two weeks and then back to Vegas; hopefully I can make it four for four."

Spencer Clark will compete next in the 13th Annual Legend Cars Asphalt Nationals, scheduled for October 8-9 at the LVMS Bullring.####
