The Indy Racing League (IRL) visited the California Speedway on Sunday for the second to last race of the season, the Toyota Indy 400.

Adrian Fernandez, protected with UnderX by Ringers, brought home his third win of the season in the second closest margin of victory of 2004 (0.0183 seconds).

In National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) action, Dave Connolly also scored his third win of the season in Pro Stock.

Connolly took on 2004 NHRA Pro Stock Champion, Greg Anderson, and had troubles right off the line.

Much to his surprise, his crew came on the radio letting Connolly know that Anderson had red lighted at the Tree.

Connolly was joined in the POWERade Winner’s Circle by his dad Ray, who won in the Super Gas category in Sportsmen action.

The NASCAR Nextel Cup Series visited Talladega Superspeedway for the EA Sports 500 on Sunday.

Penske Racing South driver Brendan Gaughan turned his luck around over the weekend, bringing home a fourth place finish and the highest finishing Raybestos Rookie of the Race.

His teammates Ryan Newman and Rusty Wallace came across the finish line in 16th and 26th place respectively.

Newman jumps up one spot to seventh in the Chase for the Nextel Cup Championship.
