SMITH WILL DRIVE AND SCHAEFER WILL BE THE JACKMAN

Tim Smith will be finishing the season behind the wheel for S and S Motorsports in the NASCAR Grand National, West Division. Co-owner/driver Steve Schaefer will join the pit crew and run the jack during pit stops. The next race for S and S Motorsports and the Grand National, West Division is the 150 lap race at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Ca on October 17.

Smith began his NASCAR career at Mesa Marin Raceway last season finishing sixteenth in the event held there one year ago. S and S Motorsports has put Smith in the seat for three races so far this season. Smith has finished fifth in Stockton on May 29, fourteenth at Evergreen Speedway on July 17 and third in Stockton on August 14. Previous finishes this season by Smith has given him the highest average finish of any rookie driver in the series.

Schaefer is looking forward to being an over-the-wall crew member for S and S. “I’m really looking forward to being the jackman. I know how much hard work the crew puts in. This is my opportunity to experience what they go through to keep the car running for me.”

S and S failed to bring a car to the October 3 race at Phoenix International Raceway. They will also not be entering a car the following weekend at the event in Erie, Co. Smith says, “If we had a sponsor like some of the other teams in the West Division, we would make all the races and possibly enter two cars in a few. We decided as a team to compete in the last two races of the season at closer, more familiar tracks that we feel we can walk away with a win instead of traveling to some of the further away tracks.”
