Angela Proudfoot doesn’t stand out on the racetrack just because she’s
one of the only female racers on the sport compact drag racing circuit—her
unique car design has something to do with it, too. Proudfoot, a vegan,
has partnered with PETA to let all her fans know that if they’re eating
at KFC, they’re supporting cruelty to animals. Proudfoot’s modified
Honda Civic sports PETA’s campaign slogan “KFC Tortures Chickens”
across the hood, as well as PETA logos and the Web address KFCCruelty.com.
She’ll sport the designs throughout the racing season.
What’s Proudfoot’s beef with KFC? Chickens raised for the restaurant’s
bloody buckets spend their entire lives crammed into crowded sheds, are
bred and drugged to grow so obese so quickly that their legs often break
and they spend their entire lives crippled, and many are scalded alive in
