Last Saturday at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Scott Franchimone and the #19 B.L.R Automotive Group Team clinched the 2004 ASA Speed Truck Challenge Rookie-of-the-Year title.
Coming into the race Franchimone had a commanding lead in the Rookie Points over 2nd place driver, Terry Young. With a 3rd place qualifying effort and a 8th place finish, Franchimone accumulated 5 of the 6 possible points which mathematically locked in the title. This was Franchimone's 11th "Luke's Transmissions Rookie-of-the-Race" award out of the 14 races completed so far this season.
“I’m glad the Rookie title is secured. Luckily, we were real strong the first half of the season. We suffered tire damage in three straight races prior to the Vegas race due to contact, causing us to come off for repairs and giving up a couple top ten runs we were on before the contact,” said Robert Franchimone, team Owner of the 19 truck.
“We had hoped to finish better in Vegas, but we were real loose about half the race, Scott just ran it as hard as he could and held on for 8th. Scott's still focusing on getting a win this year and hopes he'll get it at Irwindale. He qualified on the pole and finished 2nd last time out there, so we know we've got a chance to win.”
He went on to add, "Our team could not have accomplished any of this without the help from our sponsors B.L.R Automotive Group, Autocraft of Torrance, Rosecrans Autobody, M&M Interiors, A.V. Dimensions, K.P. Gaming Supplies, West End Material Supply, and Rich's Motorsports"
