TRACY, California -- Altamont Motorsports Park was the scene of high drama this weekend. Twenty-one competitors prepared to win a race and five of those drivers vying for one Championship trophy. Jess Motorsports, after leading the point’s race for most of the season, sat just ten points back from the leader in third place rolling onto the track. The #51 Alfred Matthews Chevrolet Monte Carlo looked fresh and race ready with a new body prepared by David’s Racing Products. The car showed promise throughout the two practice sessions and a lap of 18.377 around the banked half-mile was enough to gain another two points in the chase race.

The eight-car invert placed the Alfred Matthews/Kens Tire Store/Hayward Pool Products/Borg Fence car inside the third row. Ruzbarsky battled a loose car from the start but didn’t hesitate to take the car to the top moving through the field, with nothing to lose and everything to gain he left nothing behind. An incident in turn three involving the point’s leader, with 15 laps remaining, put the ball back in the hands of Jess Motorsports once again. The restart on lap 90 bunched the field again and teammate Mark Smith, 2004 SRL Rookie of the Year, became a victim of circumstances in contact with another car on the backstretch ending his night shortly thereafter and ultimately Jess Motorsports run for the trophy. The HUR Hutter Racing Engine ran strong and brought Ruzbarsky across the finish line in third place, just one position short of taking the 2004 title.

The Davey Hamilton SRL Wild West Shootout concludes the year in honoring all of the drivers and their teams on November 13th at the Holiday Inn Capitol Plaza in Sacramento. Jess Motorsports celebrates a successful season and will be teaming up with Bill McAnally Racing this weekend at Mesa Marin Raceway for the October Classic 150 on Sunday, October 17th in the NASCAR Grand National Division. Teammates for this event include Austin Cameron in the #16 NAPA Auto Parts/NAPA Belts & Hoses and Kerry Earnhardt in the #20 NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet.####
