Bob Johns has announced today that effective immediately he will relinquish his role as crew chief for the #88 MRG Motorsports team with driver David Gilliland in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series and the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division. Southwest Series. It was a mutual decision on both parties to separate under good terms.
"We both agreed that maybe it was time for a change. We still have a great deal of respect for each other. I personally am very proud of what we accomplished and have really enjoyed working for car owner Mark Golembeski and the MRG Motorports team," Said Johns. "The entire organization is a class act."
Johns, a veteran with an extensive race and championship winning resume, including his work with Ron Hornaday Jr., will be at Mesa Marin this weekend helping with a WCPT team.
At this time Johns is considering his options for the future; a pairing with another solid performer would certainly please him.![]()
