SHOOTOUT RETURNS TO MADERA SPEEDWAYWILTON, California -- Madera Speedway sits in the heart of California's Central Valley and will host round number two of the SRL Wild West Shootout on Saturday, April 30th, 2005. Fresno’s Ray Lawson Jr. has six career SRL Wild West Shootout Victory’s on the 1/3 mile track. Track experience will be in Lawson’s favor as over thirty cars are expected to compete. Among those thirty cars are ten rookies, many making there first laps around Madera Speedway. Madera Speedway is known for side by side racing all around the track.

After winning the season opener at Stockton 99 Speedway on April 3rd, Jason Fensler leads the current point standings heading into Saturday nights 100 lap event. Napa’s Joey Zampa trails Fensler by six points. Zampa has had a lot of success at Madera Speedway as he picked up his first career shootout victory their in August of 2002. After qualifying and finishing third at Stockton 99 Speedway, Fremont’s Troy Ermish heads into Madera Speedway with plenty momentum. After a solid fourth place finish at Stockton, Roseville’s Eric Schmidt sits fourth in the point standings. Rounding out the top five is last year’s qualifying ace Ken Boyd of Ceres. Tracy Bolin will make the tow from Valley Springs to compete at Madera Saturday night and stands solid in the sixth position. Rookie Angelo Queirolo sits in seventh and plans to run the entire 2005 SRL season. 2004 Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year Mark Smith is currently eight in the standings. Rusty Buholz is competing for the 2005 Victory Circle Rookie of the Year award and is currently ninth in the Championship standings. Rounding out the top ten is 2002 Series Champion Jeff Anthony of Livermore.

Jason Fensler leads the Apex Financial Group Qualifying Points. Fensler set fast time at Stockton99 on April 3rd. Jeff Belletto trails Fensler by one point after qualifying second at Stockton. Troy Ermish of Fremont currently sits third in the Apex Financial Qualifying Points. $5,000 will be divided between the top three drivers in qualifying points at the end of the 2005 season. Apex Financial Group is based in Stockton Ca, and specializing in home loans and the refinancing of property.

Lathrop’s Angelo Queirolo leads Rookie of the Year point standings. Queirolo has a 4 point lead over fellow Rookie Rusty Buholz of Palo Alto.

Greg Pott’s leads the SRL Late Model Qualifying Points standings. Carl Pearce, Shannon Mansch, Wes Banks, Charles Perreira, Jamie Dick, and Chad Pais all trail Pott’s.

Casciaro Homes Hard Charger Award: After transferring from the non qualifiers race at Stockton 99 Speedway (April 3rd) Rusty Buholz won the Casciaro Homes Hard Charger Award and was given a check for $150 from Casciaro Homes. After 100 laps around Stockton 99 Speedway’s tight quarter-mile, Buholz crossed the finish-line in the ninth position.####
