SHOOTOUT HEATS UP AND INVADES STOCKTON 99 SPEEDWAYSRL WILD WEST SHOOTOUT

Jason Fensler has won five of six races so far this year driving Beebe Racing Enterprises. Two of his five victories came at Stockton 99 Speedway. Fensler has stretched his point lead to 49 points of Troy Ermish of Fremont. Ermish has been real consistent in qualifying and race trim. 2003 Victory Circle Chassis and Party Rookie of the Year Mark Smith of Tracy is third in the Championship Standings. Smith qualified third at Altamont Raceway & Arena two weeks ago en route to a fifth place finish. Joey Zampa trails Smith by one point heading into the “California Welding Supply 100”. Zampa has two career SRL victories at Stockton and finished in the runner-up position on March 28th. Ken Boyd rounds out the top five. The Ceres California driver looks forward to returning to Stockton 99 Speedway a track he dominated in the 80’s and 90’s earning four straight late model track championships. Boyd is within four points of Mark Smith in the third position. Roseville’s Eric Schmidt dropped to sixth in the point standings after a fifteenth place finish at Altamont Raceway two weeks ago. Schmidt won at Mesa Marin Raceway on May 14th for his first career SRL victory. Schmidt is also very familiar with Stockton 99 Speedway as he won the late model track championship for car owner Frank Jordan in 2003. Harold Rieker Jr. also of Roseville has had some impressive runs so far this season. Rieker Jr. has 4 top tens a long with 3 top five finishes. Rieker Jr. has set fast time at Shasta Raceway Park on June 4th. Mike Mendenhall sits eight in the championship standings despite missing the season-opener at Stockton 99 on March 28th. Mendenhall finished second at Mesa Marin on May 14th and travels to every SRL race from Santee, California near San Diego. Jim Courage Jr. is ninth in the standings and sits three points behind Mendenhall. The Roseville, California driver finished 11th at Stockton 99 Speedway on March 28th and 9th at Stockton on May 28th. Breaking into the top ten for the first time this season is 17 year-old Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year Point leader Jeremy Wood of Tracy. Wood led the first 39 circuits at Stockton on March 28 and is looking for his first top five of the season a long with his first career victory for car owner Rick Ruzbarsky. Tracy Bolin of Valley Springs is coming off of a ninth place finish at Altamont two weeks ago and sits eleventh in the standings. Steve Belletto the 2004 Series Champion is in the twelve position with Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year contender Rusty Buholz of Palo Alto thirteenth. Aaron Days of Patterson is fourteenth in the standings, as 2002 series champion Jeff Anthony sits in fifteenth after finishing second at Altamont two weeks ago. Jeremy Wood leads the Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year point standings. Wood has a 15 point lead over fellow Rookie Rusty Buholz of Palo Alto. In addition to be crowned Rookie of the Year at the season ending awards banquet, the 2005 SRL Rookie of the year will be the recipient of a brand new 2005 Victory Circle Chassis.
