LOOKING BACK AT TRI-CITY: Dillon is the eighth different race winner in the first eight races this year on the Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series. The series is on pace to break last season's record on 10 different race winners. Kaltschmidt has moved into the points lead over Lewis. Kaltschmidt holds a 29-point lead over Lewis. Evans is third just 10 points behind Lewis. With his podium finish, Stewart has captured the Totem Travel Rookie of the Year points lead. Matt Kelley, who suffered from overheating problems, trails by three points. John Zaretzke is a point behind Kelley. TURNING TO PIR: This will be the second visit for the Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series to Portland International Raceway in 2000. Steve Petty gambled on the weather the first time here and won. Petty chose not to pit for fuel and tires, betting on rain showers to shorten the race. His gamble paid off as he was able to claim his first Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series win. Don't look for Petty to be in the field for this weekend's race. He will be competing on the Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring, at Sears Point this weekend. No former series winners at PIR are scheduled to enter the race. A new face will visit victory lane at FIR this weekend. NASCAR Winston Cup star Mark Martin won the first series race held at PIR back in 1995. STAT OF THE WEEK: This will be the 6' Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series event held at PIR. Of the regular stops on the series, only Kalispell (Mont.) Raceway Park and Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho, have had the series visit fewer times.
