Source: Kristy Runyon
Joe Constance clocked in fast for the Late Model Super Stocks and Brad Stanwood took the trophy dash after a last lap pass on Shane Mitchell. The main event was lined up by point standings for the Late Model Super Stocks because it was Championship night. Tom Sweatman started on the pole and took the lead on lap one, leaving the pack in the dust. Joe Constance fell into second with Nick Behn in third. Ray Wallace had to leave the track on lap one after he and Angela Cope got together giving him a flat tire. Jerry Clark left on lap 10 with a mechanical problem. The first caution of the race came on lap 22 when Bob Coffey and Shane Mitchell got together. The pair did not spin but left debris on the track. Mitchell left the track on the caution and came back out a few laps later but left again after five more laps. Sweatman, Constance and Behn were holding on tight to the top three positions but on lap 26 Mike Obrist caught Behn and moved into third. Behn was fourth with Al Carver in fifth. Lap 31 brought out the second and final caution of the race when Tim Gosch and Phil Willis crashed into the wall. Gosch was loose coming out of turn four and Willis tried to squeeze by him on the inside. The pair collided and headed into the front stretch wall knocking Gosch out for the night and causing Willis to lose 57 laps. Sweatman stayed out front for the rest of the race and lapped all but second and third in his quest for the Championship. Sweatman won his sixth main event of the season and clenched the Championship. Joe Constance finished second in the race and second in the season. Mike Obrist drove to an excellent third place finish in the 100-lap race. Finishing one lap down were Nick Behn, Jason Hedrick and Mitch Franklin for fourth fifth and sixth. Seventh through tenth were Dan Rhodes, Ray Wallace, Brad Stanwood and Bob Coffey. Jordan McGregor had a great night in the Top Notch Trailers Street Stocks. The Rookie qualified fast for the group and then won the dash after a last lap incident between Jim Swanson and Paul Hopkins. Hopkins was attempting to pass Swanson on the outside and they got together causing a spin. McGregor took advantage of the mistake to win. Dan Woodward led the first four laps of the A heat race before Jay Hopkins took over but Jordan McGregor got by Hopkins on lap seven and took the heat race win too. Sean Riley led the first lap of the B heat race before Cody Erskine took over. Riley slowed coming out of turn four as if he missed a gear then down the front stretch he and Bill Posh Jr. got together taking the two around and damaging Posh’s car so much he was unable to continue racing in the heat. On the restart Larry Gaylord got a jump on Erskine and took the lead and won. Cody Erskine was second and Ron Ehli was third. Erskine and Posh started on the front row of the main event. Erskine took the lead until lap four when Larry Gaylord got by him. Dan Woodward took over the lead on lap six. Jordan McGregor was running second and Ron Ehli was in third. The caution-free race had Woodward fighting against the advances of Jordan McGregor. McGregor was looking for the clean sweep but came up short. Dan Woodward won the main event with Jordan McGregor in a close second. Ron Ehli finished third followed by Jim Swanson and Bobby Micielli. Jay Hopkins was sixth, Larry Gaylord seventh, Cody Erskine eighth, Leon Ames ninth and Sean Riley tenth. Point leader Mike Carlson qualified fast for the Hinkle Homes Pure Stocks but second place Dan Walker won the trophy dash. Lamora Woods led the first lap of the B heat race before Mark Gernlein took over. Gernlein held the lead until Mitchell Woods got by him on lap seven to win. Gernlein finished second and Ian Alder was third. Bobby Moore led all eight laps of the A heat race to win over Steve Woods and Dan Walker. John Woods and Mitchell Woods started on the front row of the main event. Mitchell Woods took the lead on lap one with Steve Gerdts in second. On lap three a caution came out when Lamora Woods spun and sat in the dirt in turn two. Dan Walker moved into second on lap six and Steve Woods moved into third. Steve Gerdts left the track on lap nine with a broken rear end after running fourth. He was unable to return. Steve Woods took over second on lap 10. Mitchell Woods was still out front with Steve Woods now in second and Dan Walker in third. The pack was coming up on Mark Rorvik to put him a lap down. Rorvik slowed in front of Mitchell Woods and Dan Walker saw the opportunity open and took the lead. Mitchell Woods fell into second and Steve Woods into third. After 25 laps Dan Walker was the winner in his second victory of the season. Mitchell Woods was second and Steve Woods was third. Mike Carlson was fourth and Jared Vorse was fifth. Bobby Moore, Eric Lee, Ian Alder, Scott Johnson and John Woods rounded out the top ten. Coming up this Saturday night on the 3/8ths oval will be Championship Night for all classes involved.
