Source: LMCS Media
Over 35 Late Model super stock teams are expected to compete for the twenty-two main event positions available on one of the Northwests most pristine 1/4-mile bullrings. This race will be the 62nd scheduled Late Model Challenge Series (LMCS) event in the series history. The season-opener race, dubbed the Apple Blossom 100, is tied in with Wenatchees annual Apple Blossom Festival and is expected to draw large crowds to witness WVSOs first large caliber stock car event of the 2006 season. The LMCS will have three appearances at Wenatchee Valleys Super Oval in 2006. For 2006, the series has secured ten races at six venues throughout the Northwest. All ten of the scheduled races are LMCS point races this season, including the Forth-of-July double-header in Montana. The schedule includes three races at WVSO, two at Yakima Speedway WA, two at Stateline Speedway ID, and one each at Montana Raceway Park MT, Mission Valley Speedway MT, and Evergreen Speedway WA. A majority of these races have increased purse and/or travel monies offered. Thurston County Transmission in Lacey, WA is the official sponsor on this LMCS season opener at WVSO. In the last six season's, the series has become one of the most respected and popular late model programs in the region, filled with budding young drivers and experienced veterans alike; drawing a variety of talent from all over the Northwest. In the last two seasons , the Late Model Challenge Series averaged 26 cars per event with over 110 teams participating, with registered drivers from Eastern & Western Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, California and BC Canada. The series has crowned five different champions in six seasons, with over 250 of the regions best Late Model drivers participating since its inception in 2000. Wenatchee Valley's Super Oval is a great facility to kick off the 2006 season, stated Jerry Losch, LMCS director. This seasons schedule is racer & family friendly with bi-weekly events and a 4-week midseason break for vacations, etc. We have also attempted to non-conflict with major regional open-comp events for those that wish to participate in these other high caliber races. WVSOs Apple Blossom 100 race schedule: Friday, May 5th - Practice 6 to 10pm.
