SUMMER CYCLING SERIES

Other final round winners in the three-race Summer Cycling Series were Santa Rosa’s Ted Simpkins (Unattached) in the B Group, Mill Valley’s Sara Ellis (Ultimate Fitness) in the Women’s Division and Petaluma’s Ethan Weiss (Team Swift) in the Junior Division. Champions were awarded $80 (Group A, Group B, Women’s), and $60 (Junior’s).
“I love coming here to race because you never have to use your brakes,” said Phipps, who placed third in the road circuit race at the Cougar Mountain Classic event in July. “I figured I’d just ride hard until someone caught me.”
Thursday night’s final round attracted 81 cyclists and featured 8 laps over Infineon Raceway’s 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course.
More than $1,700 was awarded during the Infineon Raceway Summer Cycling Series, which spanned three weeks (Aug. 10, 17, 31). Cycling will return to Infineon Raceway in April, 2007, with the Infineon Raceway Spring Cycling Series. For more information, visit www.infineonracewaycycling.com.
