NOTES OF INTEREST:
· Engine failure during practice at Evergreen Speedway before the last race
may have cost John Zaretzke his chance at the Totem Travel Rookie of the Year
award. He now trails Gaylon Stewart by 11 points and Matt Kelley by seven.
· Kaltschmidt holds a narrow four-point lead over three-time series champion
Garrett Evans in the season title chase. Gary Lewis, the 1998 series
champion is 101 points behind Evans.
· This is just the third visit for the series to the state of Montana.
· With his Bud Pole Award at Evergreen Speedway, Gary Lewis has caught
Garrett Evans in the season long Bud Pole Award race. Each has four Bud
Poles.
STAT OF THE WEEK:
· How much does Tom Sweatman like Kalispell Raceway Park? Very much. He has
led every lap of the two races the Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series has held
at the track.
1999 IN REVIEW:
· Tom Sweatman grabbed the lead on the first lap from his second row starting
position when front row drivers Wes Rhodes and Kevin Quesnell got together on
the backstretch. >From there Sweatman dominated the rest of the race, holding
off Marc Groskreutz and Joe Constance over the final laps, to claim his
second Kalispell Raceway Park win in as many years.
