TWO DIVISION CROWNS UP FOR GRABS SATURDAY AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAYIRWINDALE SPEEDWAY

Travis Thirkettle of Newhall, Calif. has a 27-point lead over defending division champion Tim Huddleston of Agoura Hills, Calif. and needs only a 14th place finish in the race to clinch his first Auto Club Late Model championship. If Huddleston’s bid to overtake Thirkettle is unsuccessful, he can do no worse than clinch runner-up honors. Huddleston has a comfortable 80-point lead over Mike Johnson of Covina, Calif.
Bryan Harrell of Riverside, Calif. has a 35-point lead over Greg Crutcher of Covina and needs only an 18th place finish to lock up the Vista Paint Super Stock division title. Crutcher will finish no worse than second in the standings if he is not able to overtake Harrell.
Only two races are left and 62 points separate the top four drivers in the Legend Cars division standings. Tom Landreth’s consistent performance throughout the season has kept him on top of the standings with 653 points. Landreth of Alta Loma, Calif. holds a 42-point lead over second place Lindsey King of Cherry Valley who has 611 points. Austin Grabowski of Upland, Calif. and Connor Cantrell of Valencia, Calif. are close behind with 593 and 591 points respectively.
Two races remain in the season and only 16 points separate first place Tyler Rogers of Riverside and second place Kevin Bernhardt of Fontana, Calif. in Snap-on Tools Mini Stock division action. Rogers’ division leading efforts have been aided by an impressive consecutive race win streak which ended at seven victories on August 12.
USAC Ford Focus Midgets make a return visit to Irwindale Speedway and complete Saturday evening’s racing schedule along with the Bandoleros.
Laidlaw’s Harley Davidson is conducting a special ticket promotion for customers visiting the store located in Baldwin Park, Calif. Laidlaw’s customers will have the opportunity to ride their Harleys on Irwindale Speedway’s half-mile oval track during Saturday’s pre-race ceremonies.
Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with the King Taco fan appreciation autograph session taking place on the track at 5:45 p.m. The green flag waves for the first race at 7 p.m.
UPCOMING: Test and Tune, the popular activity held weekly takes place this Thursday (September 14) under the lights from 5-10p.m. The activity allows local drag racers the opportunity to race their street legal cars on Irwindale Speedway’s 1/8-mile drag strip. It costs only $20.00 to race, $10.00 to watch ($5.00 for kids 12-6 yrs. and 5 yrs. and under are admitted for free)….The USAC Sprint car race scheduled for October 7 has been cancelled. The cancellation was a result of teams who were not in compliance with local sound restrictions during the August 26 race requiring sufficient time and testing to make exhaust modifications to their cars.

Auto Club of Southern California members receive a 10% discount off of the purchase of up to four (4) adult general admission tickets for regular Saturday oval racing events when they show their AAA membership card. Auto Club members can also receive discounts on special offers at the concession and souvenir stands.
