EIGHT DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE DECIDED AT EVERGREEN SPEEDWAYOn Saturday night September 23 at Evergreen Speedway the final champions of the 2006 race season will be crowned. Six divisions will be on hand for the NASCAR Championship Night at the Races. The Les Schwab Tires NASCAR Bomber Division will be joined by five other divisions including the NASCAR Mini-Stocks, Northwest Legends, Stinger 8’s, Extreme Contact and Super Figure Eights.

Heading into this final event of the 2006 season for the Bomber Division current point leader Duane Schosboek holds a 32-point margin over James Mugge. Both are in line to win a first NASCAR division championship. Schosboek has won ten championships at Evergreen all racing with the WWRA. Planning on racing part time Schosboek took the lead for the championship on the first night of racing and has made every race. “I did not plan on this but as long as I have the lead I will keep racing”. Schosboek also went on to say that “If I win it has been the toughest year I have ever had in racing. The pressure is amazing”.

Second in the points chase Mugge will need to max out on his opportunity for points which includes his heat race and the main event. With 8-points for a heat win and 50 for the main event win it is not undoable for Mugge. Third place Darin Stordahl is only 3-points behind Mugge and is mathematically still in the chase.

The Mini-Stock Division championship point leader Mark Weedin enjoys a 25-point advantage over former division champ Nat Barber. Weedin knows he will need another strong night of racing to keep the hard charging Barber at bay for his first ever division title.

As in the past year the Stinger 8 division rolls into the last night of their respective season to decide who will represent this 4-cylinder figure eight group as the champion. Four drivers are in the chase and it will come down to the final lap to see which one will receive the 2006 crown.

Steve Peters is in line to repeat as the Super Figure Eight champion. Troy Simianer and son of Steve Peters, Sean are in a battle for the Extreme Contact Figure Eight title. Simianer won the division crown in 2004 and 17 year old Peters is vying for his first.

The Northwest Legends Series will decide their champions in each of the three divisions that are a part of this traveling group. Pro Division leader Randy Schaaf after a first in the pros. Rob Hawton leads the Master Division and Nick Carey the Semi-Pro Division.

Tickets for this special night are available on the web at www.evergreenspeedway.com or call the office at 360 805-6100. Backgates open at 1:30pm, front gates open at 3:30pm with heat races beginning at 5:00pm and main events start at 7:00pm.####
