At a point in time on our calendars when local race tracks are winding up their racing seasons, and preparing to crown their division chamions, another track is preparing to officially start their season. That track is the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway, in Blythe-California, the home of the Winter Blast Series.

The very unique racing series begins this Saturday night, September 30th, and runs on alternate Saturdays until the end of April excluding the months of December and January. In past editions of the Winter Blast, which began during the winter of 2002, this racing series has become a highly appreciative public service for racing fans who often experience withdrawls while waiting for the regular season to start next spring.

There's plenty of racing action to see from a variety of racing diviisions on the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway's paved, quarter mile, oval. The September 30th season opener will feature the K&N Performance Filters Late Models and reigning champion Chris Gerchman is expected to be on hand to start the process of defending his title. He can expect some tough competition from the likes of Ryan Kerr who finished second in the championship standings only 12 points behind the leader.

The special guest division on this night will be the always popular West Coast Pro Truck Series. This regional touring series, featuring full sized racing pick up trucks, will be making their first, of three, appearances during the Winter Blast racing season.

Opening night, at the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway, will also feature another one of their popular regular divisions: the Sunoco Fuel Pure Street Stocks. The always fun Street Stocks race each hard and the old adage racing is rubbing definitely applies here. Reigning champion Richard Selph is expected back this year to claim another points title.

Also in the traditional of very hard, but very exciting, racing the speedway's Factory Stocks will also make their 2006-2007 Winter Blast Series debut Saturday night. The affordable, entry level, into stock car racing features basic bomber stocks, with original factory equipment, and are always a delight to the crowd with their high flyhing antics.

Put in all together and you've got the makings of a first class debut of the 2006-2007 Winter Blast Series at the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway. The spectator gates open at 5 pm followed by a special ontrack autograph and photo session which allows fans to get an up close look at the cars as well as the opportunnity to meet the drivers. The green flag falls on the first race at 7 pm. For more information call 1-800-342 2512 or visit the website at www.i10speedway.com.####
