CISCO BURGER WORLD FIGURE 8 CHAMPIONSHIPS RETURN TO IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY ON OCTOBER 7

IRWINDALE, California -- For the fourth consecutive year, Irwindale Speedway will showcase the top Figure 8 competitors in the Cisco Burger World Figure 8 Championships Presented by West Coast Choppers, Pick Your Part and Oakley Sunglasses on Saturday, October 7.

Competitors will compete in a 60 minute race that features a cash purse that pays through the top thirty finishing positions including $10,000 to the winner.

Figure 8 racing is a form of racing that combines elements of oval racing, demolition derby and road racing. Racing is done on a track shaped like an 8. The cars cross paths at the center of the 8, which is known as the "crossover". Because of this layout, incidents are inevitable. The cars used are often standard cars, but are usually modified for lightness and safety. A wing much like a sprint car may be placed on the roof to increase down force. The cars' bodies are typically made out of sheet metal. Figure 8 racing is a unique sport that requires strict attention to detail and timing to successfully navigate the crossover.

The race is sponsored by self service auto salvage retailer Pick Your Part www.pickyourpart.com, Oakley Sunglasses www.oakley.com, Long Beach, Calif. based Cisco Burger Restaurant www.ciscoburger.com and West Coast Choppers www.westcoastchoppers.com . The latter two companies are owned by Jesse James, host of Discovery Channel’s Monster Garage television series, a competitor in the Pick Your Park Outlaw Figure 8 series at Irwindale Speedway and scheduled to compete in the World Figure 8 Championships.

Auto Club of Southern California members receive a 10% discount off of the purchase of up to four (4) adult general admission tickets for regular Saturday oval racing events when they show their AAA membership card. Auto Club members can also receive discounts on special offers at the concession and souvenir stands.

Irwindale Speedway is located on 500 Speedway Drive off of Live Oak Ave. and I-605, between the 10 and 210 freeways in Irwindale, Calif.
