BONIFIELD AND THE #44 TEAM SET TO TAKE ON TEXASNASCAR WEST SERIES
Date: 09/29/2006
Bonifield started his racing career as a champion BMX racer in Northern California, and then moved on to NASCAR. He moved from his home in Napa, California in the early nineties and started working at the Buck Baker Driving School in Rockingham, North Carolina. Soon Bonifield was a driving instructor during the day, and a fabricator to the sports best at night and on weekends. Bonifield built cars for many of the top owners in NASCAR including the late Dale Earnhardt. After building cars for others, Bonifield finally had his shot behind the wheel in the NASCAR craftsmen Truck Series. In the late nineties Bonifield forged his place in NASCAR racing and owning his truck, and as many as three others in the field at some races. Bonifield earned a 20th place finish in the 2003 season before retiring from driving to be a fulltime owner. Bonifield, once again showed his racing savy by building a successful team on a low budget. Bonifield, with the guidance of racing legends like Rick Hendrick and Dick Hutchenson, showed the sport that the “independent” could make it in big time racing even as the sport reached its fiftieth year. In 2005, Bonifield took on his biggest challenge to date, as he signed on to be team manager and coach to an unknown driver in the West Series. In just two years Bonifield has once again raced his way to victory lane. In 2006, the team Bonifield put together has a series high two races, and is returning to the Thunderhill Raceway looking to out due their top five finish from last year. “These last two seasons have been so challenging, but with the help of Red Line Oil, Meguires Wax, Simpson and The Decal Source the team and I have had what we needed to get the job done no matter how much talent we have in the pits or in the drivers seat, said Bonifield. It is a pleasure to work with companies that still believe in the American dream that honest hard work can and will bring you success. I appreciate all the things they have done to make this happen. Bonifield added, “I can begin to tell you how much it has meant for me to have my love and my partner, Pam Lippard with me through this. She has worked so hard to do so much for me and the team. I judge each day by how lucky I am to be in NASCAR and to have Pam by my side.”
Bonifield, Lippard and the #44 team will be in Katy, TX this Saturday night for the Allstate Texas Thunder 200 NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series race will air live on HDNet, at 6 p.m. PST.
