COX & COX CONSTRUCTION 2ND ANNUAL LEGEND CLASSIC AND LAKEPORT/SHASTA BOMBER CHALLENGE AT SRPSHASTA RACEWAY PARK

Qualifying and heat races will be run on Saturday Night, qualifying will start at 4:00 pm with trophy dashes and heat races to follow at 6:00 pm. On Sunday all the main events will be run with the racing to start at noon. Legend drivers from all over the Westcoast will be on hand including drivers from Washington, Oregon, Nevada and California. Heading the list of drivers will be 2005 and 2006 Shasta Raceway Park Legend champion Micah Parmer from Anderson, Parmer was also the winner of last years first annual Cox & Cox Construction Westcoast Legend Classic. Other local drivers entered include 15 year Derek Copeland from Anderson who finished second to Parmer in the 2006 points championship, Copeland proved that he will be a contender for the win after posting a win in a Legends of the Pacific race at Ukiah Speedway in September, it was his first ever visit to the track. Redding drivers Zachery Kavert another top contender and Jason Schuppert are entered, Schuppert will be back after a lengthy absence for work commitments and fixing his car after a bad wreck in the summer,other locals include Buddy Cox and Doug Butler. Local competitor MacKenna Bell from Carson City who finished fourth in the SRP point standings will be on hand trying for her first win at Shasta after posting top five finishes at Altamont two weeks ago. From Washington include The Carey brothers Rowan and Nick, Rowan finished second in the Northwest Legends Pro division in 2006, while Nick was the champion in the Semi-Pro division, Tacoma's James London and Bonney Lake's Nick Johnson are also entered. Reno drivers Kenny Crome and Jason Anderline along with Incline Village's Terry Madjeski are some of the Nevada drivers confirmed to be on hand. Legend of the Pacific drivers entered include SRL Late Model driver Jeremy Wood from Tracy, Johnny Green Jr from Carmichael and Rob Lathrop from Santa Clara. The second annual Lakeport/Shasta Bomber Challenge will crown its champion this weekend after race one at Lakeport Speedway last weekend, this is a two race series between Lakeport and Shasta Raceway Park that will have an overall champion and will the pay the top five in points. A huge contingent of drivers from all the North State tracks, Lakeport, Shasta, Eureka and Ukiah will be on hand. Local drivers vying for the win will include 2005 SRP Bomber champion and 2006 runner up David Braund Cottonwood, Braund finished second last weekend in Lakeport, Millville's Brian King who finished third last weekend in Lakeport should be another driver looking to break into the winners circle. NASCAR Late Model driver Eric Gannon will take over the driving chores in Brain Smith's car for the weekend, other local drivers entered are 2006 Shasta Raceway Park Schmitt Equipment Sales Bomber champion Cody Braund, 2004 SRP Bomber champion Kyle Borden, Randy File, Joe Brattoli, Randy Riggins, Dave Lewellan, Gary Newman, Bobby Crowell, Robert Pacey, Mike Wright, Terry Mathis and Wayne Lowe. Out of town drivers include Lakeport/Shasta Challenge points leader and winner of last weekends Lakeport race George Abella from Lakeport, other Lakeport drivers entered are Eric Johnson and Richard Bray. Ukiah drivers include Ron Duke Sr., Shelby Helm, George Riehl and Tanya Tenney are also entered. The Bonus Bomber division will also have a large car count as most of the Lakeport/Shasta Challenge drivers will be running both classes, as well as the Roseville All American Speedway bomber drivers. The Mini Stock division should have a great car count as over 20 cars have been pre-entered for the event. Drivers entered include locals Al Stelt the 2005 SRP NASCAR Mini Stock champion and brother the Dale Stelt 2006 SRP NASCAR Mini Stock champion, another set of brothers Greg and Paul Sabourin will also be in action, Paul won two races at SRP in 06, but were the two big ones for the locals, Pepsi Night and Championship Night. Drivers from out of town include Lakeport's Rich Schramm Jr., Roseville's Earl and Hugh Lee plus Jason Romero, Altamont driver Dominic Lopez and Eureka's Jason Shaha.
The Front Gate opens on Saturday at 3:30 pm, with qualifying at 4:00 pm and the racing action to start at 6:00 pm. On Sunday the front gate opens at 11:30 am with the racing action to start at noon
