ROOKIE DRIVER ICKLER BRINGS HOME A TOP-FIVE IN THE NASCAR ALL-STAR SHOWDOWN

Bill McAnally Racing’s rookie driver, Brian Ickler, pilot of the #20 NAPA Filters/McMillin Homes Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS started on the pole in the fourth annual NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown held in Irwindale California. The 21 year old rookie started on the inside of row 4 during the 50-lap qualifying race after finishing the season 9th in the chase for the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series Championship title. By lap 8, Ickler had moved into the lead and held off any challengers to win the first qualifying race.

Ickler took the green flag for the prestigious invitation-only 150-lap Grand National Division main event and held on to the lead during the first 20 laps. At lap 69, Ickler regained the lead over the #40 of NGND Busch East driver Matt Kobyluck and kept the #20 NAPA Filters Chevrolet out front thru the mandatory break in the race at lap 100. During the last 50-laps, Ickler would fight tight conditions and finish his first NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown in fifth with Kobyluck being the eventual winner.

“This event was a ton of fun,” said Ickler. “Toyota gives us a chance to see how we stack up against the rest of the country. We did really well. The #20 Team has been picking up steam since the race at California Speedway and we look forward to carrying that momentum into 2007 with Bill McAnally Racing.
