TUCSON RACEWAY PARK - WILD WEST SHOOT OUT!Tucson Raceway Park's final 2006 NASCAR Weekly Series race would be a Shoot Out for sure! The Bud "Day at the Races" was just that. Starting at 4:00 PM in the beautiful Arizona sunshine, fast qualifier Mike Egurola, would dominate the Super Late Model heat race from the outside front row. 2nd quick time would go to Thane Alderman from Las Vegas, Nevada but in the heat race Alderman would fade to fourth while trying to get a handle on the banks of Tucson Raceway Park.

The INEX Bandoleros were next up with Andrew Norman taking the heat win over Austin Trebilcock and Christian Vesper. The INEX Legends were fiercely contested between Cassie Gannis, Suave Brachowski and Greg Campbell in the first heat, with Cassie beating the boys and Romano Cionni getting the best of Eric Christensen and Rob Ashley in heat two.

The Mini Stocks were again a Bates affair with Chris winning heat one and father, Jim taking heat two. The Factory Stock heats were next up and rookie, Casey Rohrer would get his engine woes handled from the last couple of race days and dominate heat one while Kenny Kington would take David Rooyakkers championship winning #15 car to the front in heat two.

The wild and crazy NASCAR Modifieds would again be an all P.J. Megna show followed by Jerry Thitchener and Bob Cramb. The NASCAR Late Models were again the race to watch with 2006 points Champion Matt Williams besting Factory Stock champion David Rooyakkers in his own #15 Late Model followed by Scott Strachan in heat one. Heat two would be all Scott Rueschenberg over Brad Moyer and Larry Collins.

The Super Late Model thirty lap main was first on tap and with the sun just setting on the horizon, Matt Levin would set the pace for the first ten laps over Ron Norman and Egurola. Levin's car was bottoming out in turn three with a spectacular shower of sparks which gave Egurola the opportunity to slip by on the bottom while passing Norman one lap and Levin the next to take the lead through lap twenty one. Egurola and Norman would shoot it out within inches the next nine laps with Norman leading until lap 29 when Egurola took the lead on the back stretch and on to a well deserved win over Norman and Levin.

The Bandolero main was lead by young Norman until spinning and handing the win over to teammate Trebilcock who would become the season points champion over Vesper. The Legends would be hotly contested between Gannis, Brachowski and Cionni with Cionni and Gannis swapping the lead on three occasions and Cionni taking the win over Gannis and points champion Brachowski.

Mini Stocks would again be all Chris Bates with the elder Bates taking second over the trucks of Ken Barnett and Becky Harrington. Chris Bates would clinch the Tucson Raceway Park Mini Stock championship over dad. At the end of the main all of the Mini Stock drivers gathered on the front straight and the elder Bates graciously thanked the fans for coming out all season to watch the show.

The Factory Stock fans saw the same #15 out front all the way with Kenny Kington at the wheel followed by hard charging Rohrer and Smith. This class always is a fan favorite with side by side action lap after lap.####
