LEWIS CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON WRAPS UP IN NEW YORK CITYNASCAR NORTHWEST SERIES
Source: Doug Pace
Lewis, his parents Ralph and Leslie and girlfriend Jodi Hunt began their trip East early Wednesday morning from chilly Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Upon arrival in New York the foursome will head to the prestigious Waldorf-Astoria for the final three days of the week-long celebration. The champion’s experience is something that Lewis has been looking forward to for several weeks, he said. Being in the same company as Jimmie Johnson (Nextel Cup champion), Kevin Harvick (Busch Series champion), Todd Bodine (Craftsman Truck Series champion) and each of NASCAR’s Touring and National Champions is humbling, Lewis added “Traveling to New York City is an experience of a lifetime for me and my family. To take part in this week’s activities as the final NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division Northwest Series champion makes the opportunity that much more gratifying.” The Northwest in spirit will be well represented at this week’s festivities, he noted. “While I am here representing the Northwest Series as its champion I also represent the dedicated fans of our series, my sponsors including Victory Circle Chasiss, The Sign Factory USA, Leary Racing Products, my crew and supportive family and fans. “It’s a once in a lifetime honor that will be with all of us throughout this week and beyond.” Highlights of this week’s schedule include attendance at the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brothers Awards Luncheon, participation in the championship photo opportunity at Rockefeller Center with all of NASCAR’s titleholders, a private champion’s dinner at the famed Waldorf-Astoria, participation in national media events and attendance at the 2006 Nextel Cup championship banquet. Lewis plans to take all of the events in with a smile, but, he and his car owner, Ralph, will have 2007 on their minds, he admitted.
“The focus is on this week’s schedule including the final champion’s photo opportunity that includes the Elite Division winners, but, we’re also going to be discussing plans for 2007 and a potential for running the AutoZone Grand National West Division.” See Also .: News Index | E-mail to a Friend Article posted by RacingWest.com staff on 11/28/2006. http://www.racingwest.com
