MINDY’S MONDAY MINUTE – PRI RECAPDate: 12/19/2006
My fellow Ringers associate, Josh, and I both landed in Orlando on Tuesday afternoon and evening. On Wednesday, we headed to the Orange County Convention Center, located just down from our hotel on International Drive to setup our booth in preparation for the show.
After the closing of the first day of the show, Josh, Shane Stewart and I went to BW 3’s up I-Drive to celebrate friend and fellow Ringers racer Bud Kaeding’s 2006 USAC Silver Crown Series presented by K&N Engineering championship.
Friday night took Ringers owner Kenny Dolenak, his longtime friend, Skip and me to Timpano Chophouse and Martini Bar with the guys from Chicago Pneumatic, whom we share the Road Show trailer with out on the NHRA circuit. If you are ever in the Orlando area, be sure to make Timpano a for sure stop on your agenda. They have the best martinis and most tender Ahi Tuna I have ever had!
In years past at PRI, Saturday usually tended to be a slower day…not this year. It didn’t start slowing down until about 3:30 p.m., as people started to leave to head home to avoid the airport rush on Sunday.
The PRI Show was an awesome show for us as it always is. It is always good to see everyone that you see during race year or, in most cases, you only get to see once a year or once every couple of years. I want to thank everyone who stopped by to check out our products and booth. I also want to thank our dealers/distributors, racers, teams and racing organizations we deal with who stopped by. Throughout the three days some of the people who dropped into the booth were (in no particular order) Scott and Henry from the UPS Trackside Services out on the NHRA tour, Dan Fletcher, Matt Smith, Allen Holland from Hoseheads.com, Hillary Will and Jim-O, Ron Capps, Jill Caliendo from NHRA, Jonathan Cornell, Shane Stewart, Jerome Rodela, Jeep VanWormer, Jason Leffler, Damion Gardner, Bud Kaeding and the Kaeding Performance clan, J.R. Todd and the former Impact Kelly, David Powers Motorsports, Snake Racing, Shane Carson, Justin Allgaier and the folks from Hoosier Tire, Day Motorsports, CDOC, Motor State Distributing, BR Motorsports, Chuck Barnes Jr., Phil Howard from Rocketsports, Dennis Smith from Atchison Racing, Jason Statler, the Sharp Family, ASA Late Model Series, Dennis Huth, Dennis Moore Jr., Gary Zarounian, Brad Sweet, Ray Connolly, Ron Erks, Brett and John from Drag Racing Action and Chuck Gurney Jr., to name a few. There were many, many more who stopped by over the three-day period, but this minute would turn into more like five.
This is possibly my last Mindy’s Monday Minute for the year since this was my last journey out on the road. I am tentatively planning on attending the 2007 O’Reilly Chili Bowl Midget Nationals as of right now.
I would personally like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful and safe New Year on behalf of everyone at Ringers Gloves! Thank you to everyone who made 2006 a year and race season to remember. We look forward to seeing everyone at the NHRA races, among others, in 2007!
