LAS VEGAS RACE CAR DRIVER JACE MEIER TO APPEAR IN SPEED MINI-SERIESLas Vegas -- SPEED, the automotive lifestyle and motor sports network, is about to launch a new mini-series starring Las Vegas race car driver Jace Meier. Filmed this past October, the 4-hour live-action mini-series, titled FORZA MOTORSPORT SHOWDOWN is based on Xbox 360’s new Forza Motorsport 2 video game. Jace Meier was chosen from thousands of U.S. racers to compete in the $100,000 winner-take-all contest. He was the youngest out of the six competitive drivers chosen, a diverse group from across the U.S.

Each episode follows a group of six racers as they compete in motorsports disciplines such as drag racing, road racing, autocross and drifting. Forza Motorsport Showdown is designed to be the ultimate test of high-performance driving and mechanical skills. The show is produced by Bud Brutsman of the popular SPEED reality show, Payback. The first episode is set to air Wednesday, February 21st at 8:00 p.m.

“It was an incredible ride,” said Jace Meier when describing this once-in-a-lifetime experience. “The opportunity to race in a variety of disciplines on some of the fastest, most unusual tracks in the country was something I never thought I would experience. Not to mention the car that I drove. You’ll have to check out the first episode to see what I’m talking about.”

Jace Meier is set to enter his fifth year of competitive racing and was selected to drive for High Point Racing as part of the 2007 Late Model Division at Irwindale Speedway. Tim Huddleston, a past Late Model division champion and owner of one of the top Late Model teams in Southern California, chose Meier to drive in the car that track champion Travis Thirkettle drove last season. The Ron Sutton Winner’s Circle Development Driver is excited about the upcoming season.

Meier was named “Rookie of the Year” in the NASCAR Late Model division at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this season. In addition, he ran with USAC as part of the California Ford Focus Midget Pavement series, winning three races and four poles in the past two seasons.

Meier is a 17 year old Las Vegas native. When he isn’t racing, Meier is an honor student at Spring Valley High School and a very active member in his school and the community, in addition to serving as a motivational speaker.####
