SHASTA RACEWAY PARK READY TO ROLL FOR 2007

Anderson, Calif. -- Shasta Raceway Park located at the Shasta District fairgounds in Anderson is getting geared up for the 2007 racing season. SRP is a NASCAR Sanctioned track where drivers battle other drivers from all over the country in quest of the NASCAR National Championship as well as Track Championships and something new this year State Champions. Raceway officials have an exciting year planned with a variety of events at the lightening quick 3/8's paved oval. There are 26 events schedued for 07 with opening day set for March 31st, the BCRA Midgets will headline the Open Wheel Madness along with SRP newest class the Spec Sprint Cars, Legends and the new Bombers-Enduros that will run in both directions in 07. Open Wheel fans will be treated to a second BCRA event on September 22nd for the 4th annual Pop Porter Memerial, in conjuction with this event for the first time ever at SRP will be a Legend National Qualifying event. This should bring Legend drivers from all over the West Coast to the beautiful facility as they race for one of the automatic berths in the Nationals.

Highlighting the year will be three stops by the SRL Tour cars with their opening date scheduled for May 5th and another will be run in the summer with the date to be announced later. The 2007 season at SRP will end with a big 2 day 200 lap SRL event on October 20th & 21st. The popular North State Challenge Series will hold two events at Shasta, on April 14 which will be their opening race of their 10 race series and on June 9, both of those events will be 100 laps that pay $2000 to win. The West Car Late Models based out of Sacramento are tentitively scheduled for three races at SRP.

On the local racing scene the NASCAR Late Models will once again be the feature division in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series that opens April 7th and ends on September 29th, with 14 events scheduled, four of those events will be twin features, bringing the total to 18 races. Other NASCAR divisions include Modifieds, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks. The Legends cars will run 12 events with three of those in conjuction with the Legends of the Pacific.

New to Shasta Raceway Park in 2007 will be two new classes, the Spec Sprint Cars and NASCAR Street Stocks. The Spec Sprint Cars will be running at SRP 10 times, interest has been great since this class was announced in November of 2006. Considering how this class has taken off at the dirt tracks in California this could prove to be one of the biggest classes at SRP in the future. The NASCAR Street Stocks should have a great car count for their opening night as many of the bombers from last year have made the step up to this new division.

One of the biggest changes will see the Bomber class return to running both ways and being renamed the Bomber-Enduros, to make the class even more interesting the three Boat Races scheduled for May 19th, August 4th and September 9th will all be points races for the Bomber Enduro class. There will also see a return of Enduro racing to Shasta as two races, May 6th and September 16 have been added to the schedule, both of these races will be heldon Sunday and be 200 laps in length.

SRP's biggest event will again be the WIN River race held on October 6th & 7th this year, as the Super Late Models, Modifieds, Late Models and Street Stocks will do battle in the biggest open competition show in the state.
