The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) is breaking from tradition by posting a tentative point fund offering based on a minimum 20 shows for the top ten drivers in the final point standings for the 2007 season. “This is the first time we feel comfortable in posting a tentative point fund amount per position since we started the Series eleven years ago”, stated Andy Geesey, Series President. “Simply stated, if we have less than 20 shows the point fund will be lower, and if we obtain more than 20 shows it will be higher, but 20 shows is the baseline for 2007”, concluded Geesey.
“When we took over the former NEWS (North East Winner’s Series) Series during late 1996, they didn’t have a point fund for the previous two years that they were in existence”, stated Jeff Geesey, Series PR Director. “Our first point fund was a very modest $16,000 and last year (2006) we paid out over $136,000 in cash and prizes to the top ten with approximately $92,000 of that amount in cold, hard cash. We have built the point fund over the last decade to the heights that it is today with the help of our sponsors, host tracks, drivers who support the Series, and our purposefulness toward reaching self imposed goals”, summarized Geesey.
“We are pleased to be announcing, that based on: a minimum of 20 shows; a 90% or higher participation rate by each driver within the top 10; 100% Series participation in the loyalty bonus program according to Series rules and procedures; reigning Champions bonus; AlturnaMats® “Shock the Clock” Time Trials title, Hard Charger and Dash King competitions; the Bazell Oil and Sunoco Race Fuel bonus for the top five drivers using Sunoco Race Fuels; in addition to contributions from Hoosier Tire, Bud Watson’s Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, Dave Poske’s Hoosier Tire Ohio Valley, American Racer, Lias Tire Racing Division, and Sue Stevenson Photography the following 2007 Point Fund distribution”, stated Andy Geesey.
