Highlighting the evening will be the K&N Filters Late Models who will be running a 50 lap feature. A large car count is expected Saturday night for this division because the race pays $800 to the winner. The Late Model points standings are extremely close during the early going of the Winter Blast Series. Chris Gerchman goes into Saturday night leading the standings with 98 points but that's only a four point lead over Ron Daniel. Both drivers have won feature races during the division's two previous appearances in the series. Not to be overlooked are Victor Pfueger, who is third in the standings with 88 points, followed by K J Garrison and Bobby Kerns who complete the top five with 86 and 84 points respectively. The EZ Up Legends are also expected to bring a large ammount of race teams to Blythe this Saturday. This is likely because it provides the drivers and teams an opportunity to get an early start on the 2007 INEX national points standings. The Legends have only made one appearance, back on November 25th, during the Winter Blast Series which was won by Bear Rzenowski a young, and very talented, rookie from Las Vegas. Because of that, there are only eight points seperating the top five drivers in the division standings. Rzenowski sits on top of the standings with 50 points with Austin Murphy, Derek Frohlich, Gary Scheuerell and Austin Grabowski right behind him. The same situation applies to the Bandelero Division who will also be getting a head start on the 2007 INEX national points. The Bandeleros has also made one appearance during the Winter Blast Series, also on November 25th, which was won by San Bernardino's Jimmy Rouse Jr. That also means that there are only eight points seperating the top five in the standings. Blake Lueth, Tyler Fabozzi, Jeremy Birch and Pat Camburn comprise the remainder of the top five and will be looking to improve their positions Saturday night. The always fun Factory Stocks will also see plenty of action this Saturday night. Four appearances, in the Winter Blast Series, has produced four different winners. John Lowrence goes into the weekend as the division leader with 58 points. Christine Phelps and Brian Sutterfield, both feature winners, are right behind him with 54 and 52 points respectively.
Following Saturday night, racing returns to the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway on February 17th featuring a 50 lap main event for the Sunoco Fuel Pure Street Stocks. The March 3d race will feature a return of the ASA Speed Truck Challenge Series. For more information on the Winter Blast Series dial up the speedway's official website at www.i10speedway.com.
