SACRAMENTO-AREA RACERS DOMINATE INFINEON RACEWAY DRAG STRIPINFINEON RACEWAY

Despite a potential day-ending water leak, Myhre powered his dragster to a run of 8.64 seconds over the quarter-mile drag strip, beating out Thompson for the win and the $1,000 winner’s check.
The Sportsman ET class belonged to Sacramento's Melissa Wright, as she held off tough competition to score a win and the class points lead in her 1973 Nova. Wright’s final-round opponent was track champion Walter Alvarez of San Francisco, who red lighted and handed the win to Wright.
In other action, Sacramento-area racers continued their winning ways as Citrus Heights’ Phillip Nasca took home class honors in Motorcycle, beating out Rohnert Park’s Steve Starr in the final round.
Other winner’s from the Summit ET season opener on Sunday included St. Helena's Mike Mitchell (Pro ET), who beat out Napa’s Ken Briggs in the final. Union City’s Caira Jacobs (High School) walked away with a win over Rohnert Park’s Daniel McClelland; and San Rafael’s Scott Sterley (Trophy) ousted Calistoga’s Kurt Mund for class honors.
