COLTON STAR MAKES TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY OVALSAN BERNARDINO – Linny White made his return to full-time competition at Orange Show Speedway Saturday night with an impressive win in the 40-lap Hype Manufacturing Super Late Model main event.

White, of Colton, has been a track champion on both the Orange Show’s quarter-mile paved oval and the dirt half-mile at Perris Auto Speedway. He said he is concentrating his racing efforts on the West Coast this season after an unsatisfactory stay in North Carolina temporarily derailed his career.

Saturday night, in a new Chevrolet Monte Carlo, White showed a crowd of 1,811 that he hadn’t forgotten how to negotiate Orange Show’s tight quarter-mile by leading 27 of the 40 laps and holding off former Cajon Speedway champion David Beat, who was substituting for regular driver Ron Overman.

Beat moved into second at the same time White took the lead away from pole-sitter Travis Stockman on lap 14, but never could mount a challenge. Rick Chavez of Santee, Frankie Gould of Woodland Hills and defending champion Glen Cummings of Highland rounded out the top five.

Perennial favorite Eddie Secord, of Oak Hills, took the 30-lap Pro 4 feature in his Pontiac-bodied, Ford-powered entry, Tony Dumont in a Mercedes Benz sedan held off Spencer Samaro in a Toyota pickup to claim the 25-lap Factory Fours main, and Mark Whitson of Riverside dominated the Stock Cars USA main, taking the lead on lap 4 and stretching his advantage to about an eighth of a mile before the 25-lap race was over.

In the opening main event of the evening, a 15-lap affair for the Jr. Mini StocKars, Ben Mahan of Hesperia drove his Honda-powered Ford Fusion replica to his 11th straight win on the track at the National Orange Show Events Center.
