BCRA MIDGETS KICK OFF THE 2007 OPENER AT SHASTA RACEWAY PARK

The BCRA group will also open their season on Saturday night as a full field is expected, with drivers entered from California, Utah, Texas and Washington. California drivers confirmed at this time include 2005 and 2006 BCRA Champion John Sarale from Stockton, Travis Berryhill from American Canyon, Justin Grant from Ione, David Prickett from Fresno along with seven time BCRA Champion Floyd Alvis from San Carlos. Washington drivers include 17 year old Paul Zimmerly from Ridgefield, driving one of the two Marc De Beaumont entries, 17 year old Evan Funk from Burlington, Washington, Funk who won three 360 Winged Sprint Car features at Skagit Speedway last year as well as running the Northern Sprint Tour will make his pavement midget debut on Saturday Night. Brea Lopez from Vader, will also be on hand as this upcoming young lady has posted very good finishes at Shasta in the past. From Texas comes another teenager Justin Melton driving the second Marc DeBeaumont DMS Race Products entry.
The new Spec Sprint Car class will make its debut at SRP on Saturday Night as drivers from Northern California will take their dirt Sprint Cars and experiment how these cars will work on pavement. SRP Officials are expecting big results from this new class as the year goes on, Paradise drivers Mike and Justin Funkhouser will be on hand with some NCMA drivers out of the Stockton/Altamont area.
The Legends of the Pacific, based out of Sacramento will join forces with our local Legend drivers to bring over twenty of these beautiful 5/8 scale cars to Shasta, leading the way will be Andersons own Micah
Parmer the 2005 and 2006 Shasta Raceway Park Legend Champion, Parmer can expect tough competition from another local driver, 16 year old Derek Copeland who is also from Anderson. Other local drivers includeRedding's Zachery Kavert, McKenna Bell from Reno but calls Shasta her home and 2006 Shasta Raceway Park Rookie of the Year Alex Podtetenieff. Legend of the Pacific drivers expected to challenge for the win include 17 year old Frankie Marks from Orangevale who claimed the Legends of the Pacific overall title last year as well as former champion Steve Fensler Jr. from Sacramento.
The popular Bombers will be back in action with a new twist this year, by popular demand the bombers will be racing in both directions which will bring a lot more excitement back to this entry level division. To add more to the mix the three scheduled boat races May 19th, August 4th and September 8th will all be points races for the bombers. Drivers expected to contend for the championship include Bobby Crowell, Josh Dorman, Rookie Duane Hoffman and the father and daughter combo of John and Evelynn Moe.
The front gate will open on Saturday at 5:00 pm with Time Trials starting at 6:00 pm and Racing to begin at 7:00 pm. . Admission Prices: Adult $14.00 Juniors13-18/ Military/Seniors 62+ $10.00 Youth 6-12 $5.00 Family Rate of 2 Adults and 4 under 18 $32.00.
