West Memphis, AR-– After a long winter’s nap, the historic Riverside International Speedway (RIS) is prepped and ready to rock and roll for the season opener this Saturday, March 31st.

Several improvements have been made to the facility over the past several months including a rejuvenated, gumbo surface, new walls, fresh coats of paint, new lighting and more. “A ton of work has been accomplished with plenty more to go,” RIS owner, Clayton Allen comments. Allen also comments, “Our goal is to give race fans the best bang for their dollar, while getting them home at a decent hour. We still have a lot to accomplish and a lot to learn, and there is no doubt that the road will be bumpy. We just ask that fans and racers are patient early on as we resolve these bugs.”

Among the additions for 2007 is the two-seat Sprint Car. Each week chances to ride in the Sprint Car will be sold for $5 a ticket or $20 for five tickets. Half of the money will go to the driver’s point fund, while the other half of the money goes into a fund to maintain the car. A winner will be drawn from the tickets each night. The lucky winner will receive a six lap ride along around the legendary ¼ mile oval. Different sprint car drivers will pilot the car each week. In addition, a two seat Super Late Model is soon to be delivered, and chances to ride in it will also be raffled off each week. Also, be on the lookout for the new television commercial for RIS, that is currently airing on WREG Channel 3 in the Memphis metro area.

This Saturday night, 360 Sprint Cars, Street Stocks, Crate Late Models, 250cc Mini Sprints, and Mini Stocks will all be in action.

Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 with racing action at 7:30. Adult grandstand admission is $12 with children 6 – 11 years of age $5, and 5 and under free. Pit passes are $25.
