IRWINDALE, California -- Chris Carmody placed 5th in the season opener of the Auto Club Late Model Series at Irwindale Speedway on Saturday March 24, 2007. The stands were packed as 29 drivers completed 40 laps around the half-mile speedway. Reaching speeds close to 100 mph, Carmody, number 56, spent the majority of the race making up positions and made a last lap pass to finish top 5.

Carmody qualified pole for the race, but after the ³wheel spin,² started the race in the number seven slot. Throughout the practice runs, Carmody further exemplified his extraordinary driving abilities by finishing with the fastest time consistently through the test runs.

A driver for High Point Racing, Carmody is on the peak of his racing career, and his top-notch driving at the first race of the season is a good indicator of upcoming performance throughout the series.

"Racing is my life," Carmody explained after the race. "My performance in qualifying and throughout the race is just a taste of what is to come this season."

With a primary sponsor of Justice Brothers, the High Point Racing Team consists of Carmody, Tim Huddlestone, Jace Meiers and Scott Jenkins.

The top five finishers were: Doug McComb, Taylor Maslam, Chris Johnson, Brian Wong and Chris Carmody.

Gearing up for an exciting season, Carmody's season opener was filmed by notable producer Jeff Pakosta for upcoming TV coverage and press material. Pakosta is a veteran in the entertainment industry with over 12 years of experience, and his resume includes work for Fox Sports, MTV, OLN and The Speed Channel, just to name a few.
