FULL THROTTLE INTO HAVASU 95 SPEEDWAY FOR THE ASA SPEED TRUCK CHALLENGE

UPLAND, California -- A full compliment of hard-charging ASA Speed Truck Challenge teams roll into Havasu 95 Speedway on April 7th to do battle in this, the third exciting race of the fourteen race season at eight different race tracks in California, Nevada and Arizona.

“We have a full field of 22 Speed Trucks for another hard-fought race in Havasu this weekend, “said Jay Rutherford, president of the ASA Speed Truck Challenge (ASA STC). “This 100-lap race is always a highly competitive match up, Rutherford continued. “We have had two first-time winners so far this season and I would most likely anticipate a third in this one as well understanding a top twenty time split of less than ½ second from the last two race qualifying posts.”

When asked this week about how the 2007 ASA Speed Truck Challenge season is progressing, Rutherford stated; “This season is already seeing some of the best racing we’ve ever seen with many new drivers looking for their own piece of the championship and rookie point’s race.” Last week’s race at the newly refurbished and tight Orange Show Speedway saw the 2006 Rookie of the Year, Randel King with his first win in the series. The week before at I-10 Speedway, Jim Putman, a seasoned ASA STC driver, experienced his first win also. So this year looks as if it could be a real toss-up in some very tough competition from front to back.

#80 Victor Pfluger has the points lead at 122 with no wins, but laid down two stellar fast time qualifiers at I-10 Speedway and Orange Show Speedway (14.823 & 13.936 respectively) securing five additional points for each. #12 Jim Putman holds second place at 110 points, followed in third place by two time series champion #18 Darren Young also winless but always poised for striking a win. 2007 Rookie #3 Bear Rzesnowiecky holds onto to fourth place at 98 points with Rookie #07 Austin Murphy and 2006 Rookie of the Year #35 Randel King tied for fifth at 96. New series sponsors love the battle for championship points. E3 Spark Plugs, K&N Filters, The Joie of Seating, Mallory, ACCEL, Mr. Gasket, Torco Race Fuels and Stagger Pro 1000, are just a few of the sponsors that are getting the full focus from the many fans that are coming out to every ASA Speed Truck Challenge event. “We are helping our previous and new sponsors gear up for what promises to be a huge year for the series, which is tentatively scheduled to start filming for national television on April 21st at Tucson Raceway Park once the final sponsorship contracts are honored,” said National Marketing Director, Bill McCloud. “Companies have never had a better chance to get superior national exposure than on our race programming in 2007, “he concluded.

Speed Truck Challenge now boasts sixty-five teams, eight different racing venues, and a race schedule that rivals any other racing circuit in the country. ASA STC is the largest truck racing series on the west coast and is the only one that has been regularly covered by national television over the last several years.

Havasu 95 Speedway, “the most scenic ¼-mile track in the Southwest,” is located in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Lake Havasu City is located along the Colorado River approximately 20 miles south of Interstate 40, approximately 180 miles northwest of Phoenix, AZ, 150 miles south of Las Vegas, and 45 miles south of Bullhead City, AZ and Laughlin, NV. The track is situated in S.A.R.A Park, just south of the City limits and the 1/4 mile asphalt track has moderate banking but enjoys two full lanes of racing action.####
