Jamaica, VA – During the next seven days Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will host two very special events as this Saturday April 28th the ASCS Mid-Atlantic Tour will make its inaugural visit and then five days later, on Thursday May 3rd, the Advance Auto Parts Super Dirtcar Series visits for the very first time.

This Saturday’s event will give the ASCS Southern and Mid-Atlantic 360 sprint car contenders a sneak preview of the semi-banked ½-mile Virginia Motor Speedway clay oval, which will host the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series with a possible $8,500-to-win East Coast Nationals on May 25 and 26. A stout field of cars is expected with Kenny Adams, a former 360 sprint car winner at the speedway, expected to kick off his pursuit of the 2007 American Sprint Car Series Southern Tour championship.

Also, on the program for this Saturday will be round one of the Victory Lap Late Model $25,000 Challenge presented by BB&T. The four race series will offer a bonus program for multiple wins. The Victory Lap Late Model $25,000 Challenge will once again pay a $5,000 bonus to anyone winning two of the four events with it going to $15,000 if a driver wins three of four events. And finally, if a driver sweeps all four events that driver would pick up a cool $25,000 bonus. Track rules for the Victory Lap Late Model Division will apply.

Also racing this Saturday April 28th will be the Budweiser Modified, VMS Charger and the VMS All American divisions. Come experience the raw, pure excitement that is dirt racing!

Adding to the excitement over the next seven days, the countdown to ‘Thursday Thunder’ continues as the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series race chasers make their maiden voyage to the Old Dominion State next week. The Advance Auto Parts SDS makes its first-ever appearance at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway on May 3rd for the 60-lap Paul Sawyer Memorial presented by Thurston Spring Service, Inc.

The stop at Virginia Motor Speedway will be the first-ever series event staged at the popular Jamaica, VA oval since the tour originated in 1980. The inaugural Advance Auto Parts Series stop stands as part of a big ‘Thursday Thunder’ doubleheader featuring both the Big-Block and Super Late Model events.

Several NASCAR stars are expected to be in attendance on Thursday May 3rd as Kenny Schrader, Kenny Wallace, J.J. Yeley and David Reiutmann visit VMS to test their skills on the dirt. Schrader and Wallace are expected to compete in the $5000 to win, Paul Sawyer Memorial 40 lap Super Late Model event with Yeley and Reiutmann wheeling a big block modified in the $6000 to win Paul Sawyer Memorial 60. In addition, former Busch Series Champion Randy LaJoie will be on hand to sign autographs prior to the event. Lajoie will also be bringing his “Safer Racer Tour” to VMS and will be available to answer any questions about race seat and cockpit safety for VMS, Super Dirtcar Series and Super Late Model drivers.
