The SRL season opener will kick off May 5 at Shasta Raceway Park with the California Hotwood 300 Series. This exciting new series will feature two visits at the fast 3/8’s mile paved oval for the SRL Wild West Late Model Touring Series and SRP’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Models.

Round one for the HotWood Late Model 300 which will also be the opening race for the SRL Wild West Late Model Shootout Series will take place on May 5th, 2007; round two will be run on July 28th, 2007.

Steve Fensler, director of the SRL Series stated, “It is great for our series and Shasta Raceway Park that HotWood is on board, Les has always been a big supporter of the SRL and Late Model racing and for his company to step up and partner with Shasta is a win win for everyone.” There is practice scheduled Friday, May 4th. Have not confirmed yet, but rumor is there is a barbeque for the teams following the practice.

The SRL is all new in 2007 with expansion likely to follow in 2008. New for 2007 is the addition of many former NASCAR Southwest Tour drivers, an all new tire and a much anticipated race at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Other tracks on the schedule include Madera Speedway, Altamont Raceway Park and Colorado National Speedway.

A few of the drivers rumored to be entered in the first SRL segment of the Hotwood 300 include Craig Raudman, Jeff Belletto and MK Kanke.

Look for a full release and entry list from the SRL Series on Tuesday, May 1.
