EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY RACE REPORTMONROE, Washington -- Clear weather and once again close racing was the theme at Evergreen Speedway. The NASCAR Whelen All American Series, FEAR (Figure Eight Auto Racing) and the Northwest Legends made up the various classes for the show Saturday night. Evergreen Speedway proved once again: "Biggest Track, Best Drivers"

A terrific field of Speedway Chevrolet Super Stocks once again tackled the "Track Almost Too Tough to Tame" Evergreen's 3/8's mile oval. The 50 lap main event needed a restart after just one lap as Rookie driver Jill Lang (Snohomish) ran up into the third groove in turn one and left the track colliding with a stack of bumper tires. Rookie Mike Holden (Mill Creek, Wa.) held onto the lead for several laps, as the action was extremely intense behind him. Roger Habich (Monroe. Wa.), John Zaretzke (Monroe, Wa.) along with Defending two-time champion Shane Harding (Langley, BC) and Darin Stordahl (Marysville, Wa.) among a few others ran in a very tight pack. After a caution flew for John Ross (Langley, BC) who had spun in turn three, Shane Harding made major contact with Ross and had to go to the pits where he eventually returned for a thirteenth place finish. Meanwhile Lex Johnson (Monroe, Wa.) took command of the race then negotiated traffic for his first victory of the season. Johnson became the third different winner in as many races. After two disappointing seventh place finishes, this win meant a lot to the former Evergreen Champion as he has his eye on the prestigious NASCAR Track Championship and first ever NASCAR Washington State Championship. Zaretzke put on a spirited challenge for the lead and his second place finish propels him into the points lead in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series at Evergreen.

The Les Schwab Tires Bombers also saw yet a different winner as Lane Sundholm (Everett, Wa.) finally shook all the bad luck off and enjoyed a wire-to-wire victory. James Mugge (Everett, Wa.) put tons of pressure on Sundholm as they had ten car lengths over third place Jim Foti (Edmonds, Wa.) and fourth place Marv Monty (Stanwood, Wa.). Daryl Lutovsky (Everett, Wa.) made a spectacular save in the heat race earlier in the day and rounded out the top five.

FEAR Super Figure Eights fielded yet again a full field and B-Main. "King Kong" Rich Groshong and Wendy Boyd made the move up to the A-Main and Jessica Wilkinson took the trophy in the B-Main. The stage was set and the fun began. Josh Beckel led the first part then Ricky "The Kid" Dietz took the show over. He began having intersection trouble but was leading by a bunch when CONTACT! His damaged car retired to the pits and returned for a disappointing twelfth place finish. "Bobblehead" Bill Wade took the win with Sean Peters once again showing his savvy as he ran from the back into a second place finish.

The Stinger Eights had the largest field of the year (so far) and continued what is becoming the wild and highly entertaining small car class of all figure eight racing in the nation. Point's leader Cody Koroshes once again was in the thick of things but this time Mike Middleton prevailed. Josh Beckel and Koroshes finished second and third. "The Wizard" Ben Chandler ran a smooth race for a fourth place finish with "Crashing####
