![]() LAS VEGAS, California -- Jace “the Ace” Meier came close to taking home his first victory of the season on Saturday, but a blown engine cost the rookie his first win, with only seven laps to go. Earlier in the day, Meier had qualified 7th out of 32 cars. Starting in the 4th row, Meier quickly starting passing his fellow drivers and by lap 17, took over the lead which he held until lap 43. He seemed to have the race in hand, despite it only being his 3rd start at the ½ mile track.
“It was all coming together,” said Meier. “Being in a new car and with a new crew, it was exciting to be so competitive early in my rookie year.”
But, in lap 43, Meier’s blown engine had him coasting to a 10th place finish in the Automobile Club of Southern California Late Model series 50-lap main event.
“I’m an optimist,” says Meier. “I now know what it takes to get to the lead in this competitive series. I’m looking forward to getting the car fixed and getting back to Irwindale on May 12th.”
Meier’s next race is back on his home track at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Meier will make his home debut for the 2007 season this Saturday, May 5th, in the Late Model race. Meier, a popular driver in Las Vegas, is looking forward to racing in front of his home fans.
Meier is an 18 year old Las Vegas native. When he isn’t racing, Meier is an honor student at Spring Valley High School, president of his senior class and a very active member in his school and the community, in addition to serving as a Motivational Speaker.
